The Anthony and Eisenhower Recreation Centers were developed through a partnership between USD 383 and the City of Manhattan, serving as both school gyms and community recreation spaces, with facilities that include basketball, volleyball, and pickleball courts; indoor soccer and baseball areas; an elevated track; and multipurpose rooms. The project originated from a community-driven initiative to provide more accessible indoor spaces that involved site development for two new recreation centers, along with coordination on additions to two middle schools. The site design covered earthwork, parking lot layout, retaining walls, water and sanitary sewer mains, hydrology and hydraulic analysis, drainage reports, stormwater quality and erosion control, storm sewer and detention facility design, fire apparatus access roads, permitting, signage, and temporary traffic control, all while ensuring code compliance. SMH also handled the relocation of athletic courts, including the football field at Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School and the tennis and basketball courts at Susan B. Anthony Middle School. Additionally, SMH was responsible for field data collection, construction staking, utility coordination, landscape design, and construction administration.
