SMH led the design efforts to extend the Gunsmoke Trail through Chilton Park in Dodge City, Kansas, creating a new 3/4-mile trail stretching from Soule Street south to Comanche Street, and then west along Comanche to 14th Avenue. Chilton Park, a beloved community asset, features a playground, historical monument, and the City’s only disc golf course, making it a vital part of the surrounding neighborhood. Integrating the trail within these existing features was key to the project’s success. SMH worked closely with the neighborhood residents and members of the local disc golf league, gathering input to refine the trail design. Adjustments were made to the design to connect with all the park’s amenities. Since its completion, the trail has been a valuable addition to an already cherished park and neighborhood. SMH is proud to have contributed to this successful extension of the Gunsmoke Trail system.
