SMH Consultants worked closely with Water’s Edge Aquatic Design and the City of Dodge City to create an award-winning water park in Dodge City, Kansas. Our team was tasked with the civil engineering design for all the improvements outside of the pool fence, which included locating the Army Corp of Engineers’ detention facilities, new streets within Wright Park, parking lots, and concrete box storm drain systems that required replacing a bridge, sanitary sewer relocation, and stormwater improvements. SMH also provided landscape architecture services for the entire project.

The water park has been a key component of the redevelopment of the Heritage District in Dodge City. Since its opening, a new restaurant, luxury RV campground, and hotel have all brought new life to the district and downtown Dodge City. In fact, the water park was a Kansas Chapter APWA Project of the Year winner!
