Marlatt Ditch Topographical Survey
In 2008 SMH Consultants, under contract with HWS Consulting Group, surveyed over 1.5 miles of the Marlatt Channel in Manhattan, Kansas. This survey was necessary for reconstruction of the manmade channel from a typical channel section to a section that enhanced the environmental benefits of the channel to adjacent properties. The survey included the location of utilities, grades, streets, bridge crossings, and a variety of information. Data was collected in state/plane coordinates and tied to work with the City of Manhattan’s LiDAR data as a supplement to that data. Being able to make survey data collected in the field work with LiDAR data proved to be an efficient use of time and resources and it also saved the City money.
