Clay Center

In 2010 the City of Clay Center contracted with SMH Consultants to assist with prioritizing street improvements, build a pavement management database, and market a half-cent sales tax initiative for street improvements. Late in the year the sales tax initiative was put to a vote and successfully approved by the community. SMH’s pavement maintenance priority list and conditional assessment of the pavements in the community was invaluable at creating the right environment for approval of the sales tax initiative. Now, for the first time in a long time the City has the necessary funding in place to perform much needed pavement maintenance within the community.
