City Park Pool

In 2009 SMH Consultants was selected by the City of Manhattan Parks and Recreation Department as the lead civil engineer for the replacement of the Manhattan City Park Pool.   This project, the first design-build project of this magnitude for the City of Manhattan, was a complete success.  Working with Capri Pools of St. Louis, MO and several subcontractors SMH delivered a design that not only met the functional requirements of the project, but also was completed in near record time to allow for a summer opening in 2010.  As part of the project SMH Consultants provided the design for sanitary sewer and water main extensions to the site to meet capacity requirements.  In addition to the extensions of numerous other private utilities SMH also provided the design of the pool deck, numerous retaining walls and pass through drainage for the remainder of the park.

Through the construction process SMH Consultants provided construction staking and worked side by side with the contractor as issues arose in the field.  Finally SMH Consultant’s survey crews certified the length of the pool, a necessary requirement for hosting swim meets and other events.  SMH Consultants has been very excited about being a part of this project and seeing thousands of children enjoying the new pool.
